This practical half-day workshop equips teaching assistants with the knowledge, language and strategies they need to become highly effective partners in Writing Root lessons.
Rather than simply sitting beside the children who need the most help, TAs will learn how to:
- understand the purpose behind a Writing Root sequence
- anticipate what pupils will need before a lesson begins
- actively support the teacher during whole-class teaching, discussion and modelling
- use Literacy Tree's resources and classroom visuals effectively scaffold without taking over
- support pupils with SEND while maintaining high expectations
- develop children's vocabulary, oral language and ideas before they write
- encourage independence, editing and self-regulation
- feed useful information back to the teacher.
