Suitable for: Year 6 teachers, English Subject Leaders, and senior leaders who want to better support independent writing in Year 6.

A focused after-school training session specifically for Year 6 teachers, exploring what independent writing means and supporting practice to ensure pupils are writing independently with a clear purpose and audience using Writing Roots.

The session will be run by senior consultants Hannah and Pippa who are both lead moderators in different Local Authorities in different geographical regions.

With the Teacher Assessment Framework and moderation in mind, this session will explore:

• what constitutes independent writing in Year 6
• the importance of pupils having clarity of their audience and intent when writing
• how to use Writing Roots to scaffold independence without over-supporting
