We have been writing our Christmas Bibliotherapies for many years now; books that we feel would make perfect literary presents for Christmas. In this by-no-means-exhaustive, seasonal booklist, we have scrolled back through our many recommendations over the years and compiled some of the most Christmassy titles so far (and added a few extra for good measure).
There have also been some wonderful, festive publications this year that didn’t quite make it into our staff Christmas Bibliotherapy, including some from our favourite authors. We have always loved the work of Alex T. Smith, writer and illustrator of the amazing Mr. Penguin series, and his new festive instalment, The Grumpus and his Dastardly, Dreadful Christmas Plan is absolutely superb. Like all his books, the illustrations and storyline are fun, playful and full of twists and turns.
We lovingly reviewed The Snow Dragon by Abi Elphinstone and Fiona Woodcock in 2019 and were so pleased to see them collaborate again this year for The Frost Goblin. This is such a gorgeous book crammed full of mystery and festive magic that is sure to keep children enchanted.
If you are searching for a literary Christmas present, we do hope that you will find something on this list for that special someone. Whilst there are many great things on the television to watch over Christmas, we do hope you will find moments to snuggle up and read a great book.
