We are a small one form entry school in the heart of Peckham. Each year, a large proportion of our children who join our school are well below age related expectations in reading and writing.
Literacy Tree’s Literary Leaves, Spelling Seeds and Writing Roots are an integral part of our school’s English curriculum. As a school, we do everything we can to get children excited about the world of stories. Using Literacy Tree’s resources has ensured that our pupils are accessing the highest quality literature leading to some stunning written outcomes.
We celebrate the fact that our children come from lots of different backgrounds and have been loving the recent additions of diverse texts to Literacy Tree’s curriculum offer which very much resonate with our school’s anti-racist curriculum.
Literacy Tree has not only engaged our students but has also had an incredibly positive impact in developing our teacher’s subject knowledge. The Literary Leaves in particular has given our teachers the road map to ensure our pupils are mastering the standards of the National Curriculum and are well prepared to be 21st century critical thinkers. To put it in the words of one of our teachers - “Literacy Tree has given me the support I need to be the best teacher for my pupils.”

Pictured here are some of the writing outcomes. We love doing book-based displays. We have pictured here some home learning and also some Y6 pupils working on Boy in the Tower. We also have some of our whole school outcomes using Change Sings by Amanda Gorman!
