Consultancy

Supporting Subject Knowledge and Delivery

Children’s literature is at the core of our consultancy. We support schools to adapt current provision to make it more book-based or to introduce and adopt Literacy Tree. We work directly with schools, Learning Trusts and English Hubs as well as academy chains and Local Authorities.

Consultancy sessions can take place either in-person or remotely.

'Thank you so much for your training today. It really was inspirational, and the room continued to buzz this afternoon.'
Lauren Makin, Assistant Headteacher, Hopwood Community PrimarySchool, Rochdale

'It's always a treat when the dream team at Literacy Tree join us for a twilight session. It was amazing to see so many people working collaboratively and enjoying what Literacy Tree can bring to each of their schools. The training was exactly what we wanted and staff went away feeling inspired and excited. Big, big thanks from all our teachers and leaders from the Wade Deacon Trust'
Juliet Brown, Director of Primary Education, Wade Deacon Trust, Widnes.

Ongoing Support

Our team of Literacy consultants establish relationships with schools to provide ongoing support with all aspects of managing and delivering Literacy Tree as well as support with assessment and moderation. This can be provided as a block of support, spread over time or as part of a project. We work directly with teachers, subject leaders, deputy headteachers and headteachers and this can take many forms, such as:

  • Action planning
  • Planning support
  • Curriculum mapping
  • Managing, reading and interpreting data
  • Supporting teacher assessment
  • Book and planning scrutinies
  • Leading CPD/Staff Meetings

'You are always so positive and enthusiastic, and our staff greatly appreciate your support and guidance!'
Deputy Head, St Mary and St Michael Primary School

Projects

Our 'Teach Through a Text' training has been rolled out to 16 schools in Portishead near Bristol as part of their English Hub CPD offer. We are continuing to work across the Astrea Academy Trust in Yorkshire and the Wade Deacon Trust in Knowsley. We also continue to run Literacy Network meetings for subject leaders at Warren Road Training Academy for Bromley Schools and Southwark Local Authority, where we also run KS1 and KS2 Writing moderation.

'The work my whole team have done with Literacy Tree has been tranfromative. The teaching team and children are now so enthusiatic and excited about reading and writing.'
Hilary MacMeekin, Headteacher, Noremarsh Junior School, Swindon
