Overview and Outcomes:

This is a 15- session Literary Leaf using Dixie O'Day: In the Fast Lane by Shirley Hughes & Clara Vulliamy. Complete coverage of the reading comprehension curriculum for year two has been planned for with vocabulary being explicitly taught at the beginning of each session. There are plenty of opportunities for paired and group activities to develop critical thinking skills and resources have been included throughout for ease of planning and delivery.

Synopsis of Text:

Introducing Dixie O’Day and also, of course, his friend Percy! This dashing duo are always getting into adventures – here they enter the All-Day Car Race little knowing what is ahead of them! Dixie and Percy run into all sorts of peril, as does their arch enemy, Lou Ella. But who will win, and will Lou Ella get her comeuppance?
